[ gwen still isn't sure if this is a great idea or the worst idea, but she's already at peter's place, sitting across from him on his bed, so she's not about to just up and leave like a weenie. not when it might make her look bad- agreeing to show him venom and explain what she can, to try and make up for what happened on new year's eve, and then totally bailing instead. she won't do it. and she knows now, it wasn't just her, but still. gwenom taking over definitely didn't help, it made a bad situation even worse, so yeah. if helping him understand, letting him see that she's got a much better handle on it than that night suggests, will maybe help make everything feel less tense? then she's going to do it.

Okay, so. Okay. [ she has her legs crossed where she's sitting at the foot of his bed, fingers fussing with a loose thread on her jeans, because that seems better than looking at him. no, actually, it doesn't. she feels totally lame for not just looking up and talking to him directly, so she tries, even if that just means her fingers are drumming on her knee now instead. just a little bit. ] Did you wanna, like, ask us stuff? [ creepy wording, gwen ] Or should I just try and explain, maybe. I don't know. I haven't had to do this in a really long time, but it's up to you.

[ It's been a few weeks now since the New Years incident, and like ... yeah, it's kind of confusing and weird, but Peter really is trying to understand how this whole ... symbiote thing works. He thinks he's got the gist of it, and he's not as wary or afraid of it the way he'd been when ... the thing sort of took his friend over and tried to kill him.

But. Well, he's trying.

This is just another attempt to further understand and accept that the symbiote is just a part of Gwen's life - and by extension, his. ]

What's the easiest way to do it? So, I know what it is and I know how it's connected to you now. But - I dunno, is there a way for you to ... show me? I mean, without it picking up the nearest sharp thing and throwing it at me.

[ gwen winces but ] Okay, definitely deserved that. [ it's true, so. she'll take it. roll with the punches, yeah. she deserves more than just a few verbal punches, so. it's fine. she holds her hand up flat in front of her, palm up, and it honestly just looks like a smooth wave of shiny spiders slide over her skin, shifting over and between her fingers. she turns her hand and they follow. ]

This is it. Venom. [ she peeks up at him, but it's only to make sure he doesn't look completely horrified ] They're not really spiders, it can just kind of shapeshift into whatever we want it to look like. I think they just look that way because I'm.. me. But- I've worn it as a full suit before, and made it change into regular clothes once, too. It looks like whatever I want it to look like.

[ It is true, but ... maybe could have toned it down, even if the comment had been said like it was a joke, a thing in the past. Still, there's nothing else for it when he leans in - just a fraction - to peer at the dark, almost oily substance rolling over her skin like sentient goo. ]

Have you ever seen this movie? It's from like, the 90s, I dunno if they had it back in your world, but it was about this green, living rubbery goo stuff. It wasn't as ... smart as this, but it could also change shapes. I think it danced around at one point.

[ He's rambling, of course, because Venom is making him a little nervous. He's not backing away, he's not even flinching, but he feels weird sitting here defenseless, if it decided to suddenly attack him.

But then - he's with Gwen, he thinks, so that's something. ]

Flubber?

[ she looks up at him again with a smile this time, and after she wiggles her fingers, the black goo turns flubber green, yeah. the consistency is off, but whatever. it shifts back after a couple seconds. ]

It thinks we're making fun of it, so no more green. [ but gwen looks amused, so whatever ] The physical stuff is kind of creepy, but it like- talks? In my head. That's the actual creepy part. It's almost like if your spider-sense had a voice. That also has an opinion on hot sauce? It's weird.

But after this long it's pretty chill, it doesn't just focus on the negative anymore. Especially when I eat spicy corndogs, it's really into that.

Yeah - yeah, Flubber. So you've got it on your world too.

[ Peter looks a little delighted when the black goo turns to green, and yeah, it looks a little like the stuff in the Robin Williams movie, which is kind of awesome? And also weird. Still weird. ]

So is it kind of negative by nature? Until, I dunno, maybe the goodness of whoever it ... pairs with? Is that the right word? But maybe the partner influences the - Venom?
